Pixie and Fairy Magic

Pixie and  fairy costumes are a great fancy dress idea for ladies, teens and children on Halloween. If you grew up on stories of Tinkerbell or other fantasy tales you probably have a pretty good idea which Halloween costume is best for you.

The TinkerBell costume consists of a strapless leaf design in very fairy shade of green. This design can be worn by a toddler, child, or by an adult in a very sexy configuration using a mini-skirt accompanied by fairy wings and a wand and jewelry as accessories.

The origin of the name pixie is uncertain. In Britain, it’s believed to pre-date the coming of Christianity to the isle and is believed to be of Celtic origins. Some claim pixies are “northern fairies”, of Germanic or Scandinavian origin, but pixies are distinguished from them by the myths and stories of Devon and Cornwal

Pixies do the unexpected, they bless the land, and are forest creatures whom other wild creatures find alluring and non-threatening. They love humans, taking some for mates, and are nearly ageless. They are winged, flitting from place to place.

In the legends pixies are said to disguise themselves as a bundle of rags to lure children into their play. Pixies are fond of music and dancing and for riding on Dartmoor colts. These pixies are generally said to be helpful to normal humans, sometimes helping needy widows and others with housework. They are not completely benign however, as they have a reputation for misleading travelers.

The queen of the Cornish pixies is said to be Joan the Wad (torch), and she is considered to be good luck or bring good luck. In Devon, pixies are said to be “invisibly small, and harmless or friendly to man.”  Her costume consists of earth tones such as brown,green and the colors of the forest. Her skirt comes to the knees and has shoulder straps. The costume also has fairy wings.

All pixies and fairies bring their own unique style to the world. Their individual looks and personalities are full of life and they make really fun characters to become on Halloween for ladies, teens, children and even toddlers.
